The artwork on the left is done by Zhang Xiaogang, the one on the right is done by pop artist, Wang Guangyi.
Both artworks are similar as they show political empowerment, in Bloodline, the uniform depicted has a reference to the military industry, this can be seen in the type of clothing the central figure is wearing. "Pepsi" shows three men that can be refered to as communist heroes, which are present in most of the communist propaganda posters during chairman Mao's regime.
In both artworks, the people portrayed look similar to each other within each artwork respectively.
Both artworks make use of the human figure to amplify the impact that the artwork has on the viewer.
The direction of colour used in both artworks are different. In Bloodline, a very dull and greyish pallette is used as a medium, Pepsi is made through bold primary colours that contrast each other deeply.
Both artworks invoke different reactions to the viewer. Bloodline gives the sense of eeriness and stillness, the eyes of the people are transfixed towards the viewer. The mood is uncomfortable and scary. Pepsi on the other hand boasts a more livelier and young hearted mood. the expression of the figures as well as their gestures suggests a mood of liberation and enjoyment.
Pepsi contains more pop cultural icons as compared to bloodline.
There is a greater variation in the colours used in Bloodline as compared to Pepsi.
The colours in Bloodline are heavily blended with smooth gradient, while Pepsi is comprised out of bold and flat colours.
The human figures in pepsi follow a ink-printing style, hence making it look abstract, Bloodline on the other hand is more realistic as the textural details are seen.
In Bloodline, th subjectmatter revolves around the faces of the human figures while Pepsi is a combination of both pop cultural icon and human figure.
